When wise elders and curious kids cross paths at a unique after school program, an inspired intergenerational collaboration leads to seeing life and legacy through a new lens.
Filmed over the course of eight weeks in the Spring of 2025 in Portland, OR., Preservation Pictures follows a unique afterschool program bringing students and elders together to connect, collaborate and create original documentary short films. Through shared storytelling and film production co-learning, the kids of Buckman Elementary and an inspiring group of seniors set out to preserve memories, build bridges and create community through the magic of movie making.
At a time when communities can be so divided, online and off, Preservation Pictures crosses generational, digital and cultural divides that often keep us disconnected from one another in everyday life. When some of the youngest and oldest voices in a community collaborate, the art of filmmaking creates an environment of true belonging. A film to be shared and enjoyed by all ages, Preservation Pictures aims to unite generations through reel connections.
